Council Meeting Highlights 2012-07
This summarises the major discussions and actions from the BGA Council meeting 14th July 2012 and preceding discussions:
- Some difficulty was being encountered with unestablished clubs exhibiting at Freshers Fairs, so the priority would be shifting to encouraging existing clubs to recruit and creating new University clubs.
 - Our representative at the World Amateur in 2013 would be the (new) British Champion, with Francis Roads as reserve
 - Our representative at the Korean Prime Ministers Cup would be Matthew Macfadyen, with T Mark Hall as reserve
 - Jon Diamond was appointed Team Captain for the WMSG in Lille and a team shirt plus budget approved
 - Andrew Simons was appointed National Trainer
 - Vanessa Wong's offer to provide some training for young players was accepted
 - A budget for a Strong Players weekend of £150 was agreed
 - We are discussing with the Nihon Kiin a plan for two professionals to visit the UK in March/April 2013
 - Minor changes to the British Championship rules for 2013 were approved
 - Sponsorship of £1,000 had been obtained for the London Open and David Carter was thanked for his welcome Sponsorship Guide
 - We would be making an offer to host the 2014 European Youth Go Championship at Butlins, Bognor Regis to the EGF
 - Our Trifold leaflets had been revised and reprinted and the Cartoon ones were due for a reprint shortly
 - A policy document on Equalities/Discrimination was approved
 - The following Dan promotions were recognised:
- Andrew Kay to 5 dan,
 - Felix Wang to 4 dan
 - Henry Manners and Boris Mitrovic to 1 dan
