New rules removed the 'bar' and had all play handicap equally. The cup went to the strongest player on 4/4 who was Malcolm Hagan 5k (***) from Martin Harvey. Prizes for 3/4 (*) and 4/4 (**).
All the dan players were knocked out fairly early on!

London Open: Results 1999
After six rounds, the leading four players entered a two-round knockout. They were Victor Chow (6 dan South Africa), Zhongyong Zhang (5 dan China), Valentin Urziceanu (4 dan Romania) and Yoshiyuki Uemura (4 dan France). Zhang beat Chow and then Urziceanu to win the tournament.
